List of Must-Have Surfing Equipment

Here below is a list of what we consider are must-have surfing equipment.

Travel Bag
A surfboard travel bag is essential if you plan to travel, or plan to storage your board over winter too for that matter. Travel bags are sturdy and designed to protect your beloved board against damages.

Protective Foam Covers
A board’s nose and tail are particularly prone to damage due to consistent wave dashing. To protect your surfboard from early damage you should definitely use foam covers.

Ding Repair Kit
Even with protective foam covers, your surfboard will still be prone to dings and dents caused by violent crashes with waves or rocks. You will need to have a ding repair kit handy just in case your surfboard will need some minor repairs.

Surfboard Wax
Coat your surfboard with this type of wax to prevent you from slipping off while balancing on your legs or paddling.

Wetsuit
No matter where you surf a good wetsuit will make a huge difference in your comfort and how long you can be out catching waves. Even in warm temperatures wetsuits are recommended if you’re going to be out for long periods of time.

Footpads
Instead of surfboard wax, some surfers prefer to use footpads to prevent slipping off from their surfboards while out on the water.

Surfboard Leash
While out in the water, especially in huge waves, it is easy to lose your surfboard once you fall off it. It is then advisable for surfers to use a leash when out surfing. One end of the leash is supposed to be attached to your surfboard, while the other fastened on one of your legs.

First Aid Kit
Since surfing is an extreme sport, expect to get a few minor bruises here and there. It is always a good precautionary measure to bring a first aid kit with you when you head out to surf.
